The arms of Gilbert of The Priory, Bodmin are argent on a chevron gules
three roses of the field, although the chevron here appears
to be sable (black), not gules (red).
The crest is a squirrel sejant on a hill vert
feeding on a crop of nuts proper and the motto is
Mallem mori quam mutare
