Tracery
A1.
Polsue , op. cit.vol II p 164, and
Maclean , op. cit. vol II p 14
blazon these arms as azure, three fleurs-de-lis,
two and one, or, borne by Giffard of Helland,
although Maclean notes that Lysons
(Lysons, Daniel, Lysons, Samuel, Magna Britannia
vol 3, p cxxxiv,
,
London, T Cadell and W Davies)
blazons these arms with a pellet on each fleur-de-lis.
Burke
(Burke, Bernard, The General Armory of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, p 398. , London, Harrison & Sons) blazons Giffard of Cornwall
as azure, three fleurs-de-lis or,
each charged with three pellets.
Polsue says that the same arms are also
in one of the south windows
impaling those of Heale
(gules, a bend fusilly, with a label for difference).
Maclean says that in the tracery of the second [window] from the east
on the south side are the arms of Raleigh
(gules, five fusils in bend argent with a label in chief, azure)
impaling Giffard.
He also suggests that the remains in the third window, showing
Christ in Majesty, may originate from Bodmin, having been sold to Helland
during the rebuilding of Bodmin.
