He is crowned, his right hand rests upon the hilt of a downward pointed sword and his left hand and arm support a sceptre. On the right is Bishop Robert Grosseteste, clean shaven, wearing Bishop’s vestments including a low mitre, jewelled morse and orphreys. His left hand holds a crozier and his right a model of Lincoln Cathedral (he was Bishop of Lincoln from to ).
