IN·MEMORY·OF·JEMIMA·CORYTON WHO·DIED··AGED
IN·MEMORY·OF·ELIZABETH·CORYTON WHO·DIED··AGED·
, gives the age of Jemima Coryton on the inscription as (47), which is consistent with the GRO, and contemporary reports of her death give 45 (see notes).

Tracery. Alpha and Omega symbols.

a shows the three holy women bringing spices to anoint Christ’s body. b shows Christ, with stigmata on His hands and feet, standing on the empty tomb. c shows SS Peter and John.

Inscriptions.
The upper inscription is at the bottom of a and
the lower one at the bottom of c. The right-hand
end of the a inscription is misaligned with the
rest of it and is written in a different font (compare the letter Y in
CORYTON
with the one in MEMORY
, for example).
,
quoting the inscription,
gives Jemima Coryton’s age as (47, implying she was born in
or )
whereas the age shown in the inscription is (62, implying she was born in
or ,
which is not consistent with her
mother
being born in ).
It seems likely, therefore, that the right-hand end of the a
inscription has been repaired with an incorrect value for Jemima Coryton’s age at her death.
