Notes
  1. Baptism at Constantine, son of William and Ann Hill, England, Cornwall Parish Registers, , Cornwall, Constantine, Baptisms, marriages, burials , p 8, Cornwall OPC Baptisms.
  2. Marriage at Helston of Peter Hill and Jane Penneck Robinson, both of Helston, Cornwall OPC Marriages.
  3. Death, residence Carwithenick, near Helston, Royal Cornwall Gazette p 3 (notice), Royal Cornwall Gazette p 3 (longer notice, short history).
  4. Burial at Helston, residence Constantine, Cornwall OPC Burials.
  5. Pedigree of Hill of Truro and Constantine, Vivian, JL (ed). The Visitations of Cornwall. p 230. , Exeter, William Pollard & Co. States that Peter Hill was second son of William Hill of Carwythenick [sic] and Catherine daughter of William Tremenheere of Penzance, but this is inconsistent with COPC baptism records, which give Peter Hill’s parents as William and Ann Hill. More likely that William Hill, husband of Catherine, née Tremenheere, was Peter Hill’s elder brother. Jane Penneck Robinson was the daughter of the Revd William Robinson of Nansloe. Shows four separate daughters Frances, Jane, Caroline and Mary which is inconsistent with COPC baptism records (and subsequent marriage and burial records) showing one daughter called Frances Jane and another called Caroline Mary. The footnote on p 230 states that most of the descents on the page are taken from Charles Sandoe Gilbert’s Historical Survey of Cornwall, of which Polsue (J Polsue, A Complete Parochial History of the County of Cornwall, vol II p 336. William Lake, Truro, ) states, among other things, There are many errors in the topographical portion of the History, and a number of misplaced paragraphs; and nearly the whole of the monumental inscriptions given were imperfectly and carelessly transcribed. This work by CS Gilbert is not to be confused with the later work The Parochial History of Cornwall by the unrelated Davies Gilbert, Giddy.
